Parents of Food-Allergic Kids Need to be Extra Careful

Parents of Food-Allergic Kids Need to be Extra CarefulParents of food-allergic kids are required to be extra careful regarding what their kids are eating. Food-allergies have become a common problem now-a-days which could give rise to many serious complications.

Some of the kids are even allergic to eat food from other’s plate or food offered to them by others. Such kids require more supervision and concern from their parents.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Jennifer Moyer Darr, who works with families at National Jewish Health, has advised the parents of school going food-allergic kids to assure that their kids have a safe environment at school because unhygienic atmosphere could trigger their allergies. Parents must also keep into account various factors such as safety, anxiety and healthy social interactions when making a decision about their kid’s food.

Parents of food-allergic kids are advised to well inform the principal, teachers, nurse, and cafeteria staff of the school about the allergy of their kids before the he child starts a new school.

School officials must be well informed about the child’s allergies, symptoms and needs. Parents must make sure that school staff is aware of how to manage food allergies.

These measures would be helpful for the kids with food-allergies, especially when they are at school and not under the supervision of their parents.
