According to Sweden Researchers, it was revealed that women who drink coffee are at lower risk of developing ER-negative breast cancer. However, the beneficial effects of coffee are still not very clear in the mind of researchers. The study was published online on May 11 in Breast Cancer Research.
Women who drink at least five cups a day are 57% less likely to develop the breast cancer compared to those who drink only one cup in a day.
Researchers at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm observed almost 6,000 women between the age of 50 and 74. The health records were tracked and it was reported by researchers that those who drink a lot of coffee are at lower risk of breast cancer.
The link between coffee and reduced risk of breast cancer is not clear as if yet. The biological mechanism has not been identified by researchers.
According to MSNBC, it was disclosed that number of compounds known as phytoestrogens are present in the coffee, which have estrogen effects in the body.
Meanwhile, it was believed that the way we prepare the coffee is helpful in reducing the breast cancer, leading cause of death among women.
