Japanese electronics giant Sony Corp. has announced that its PlayStation Network services would be fully restored by the end of May.
Sony has already started the phased restoration of PSN, including music and movie download services, staring with some parts of Europe, America, Middle East and Australia.
The PSN and Qriocity services had been down since 20th of April, a day after the company discovered a sophisticated hacking attack that left more than 100 million customers vulnerable to personal data thefts.
The restoration of the PSN and Qriocity services requires customers to update their PS3 console with a new firmware and alter their passwords.
The company is also offering free enrollment to its identity theft protection programs, and has appointed an acting chief information officer to oversee the security on its networks.
Sony Online Entertainment recently announced that it would compensate all of its affected customers with additional thirty days free game service along with a free day of service for each day the system remained down.
