With an intention to entice students to buy Windows PCs, Microsoft is offering a free Xbox 360 4GB games console on the purchase of a new PC.
However, the nearly $200-worth games console will come free only on the purchase of a new PC worth $699 or more. Furthermore, you will have to purchase your own Xbox Live Gold membership to enjoy online gaming.
Starting 22nd of May, online shoppers can get the deal via Dell. com, HP. com as well as Microsoft's online store. Those who want get the deal from a retail outlet can go to Best Buy or Microsoft's stores.
Students who want to get the deal online will need to have .edu e-mail address. Those who have plans to avail the offer via a retail store can present their student IDs.
Microsoft's Xbox 360 4GB console comes with built-in Wi-Fi and a black Xbox 360 wireless controller. Storage can be increased by purchasing a hard drive separately.
Figures released by research firm NPD claim that Microsoft sold a total of 297,000 units of Xbox 360 in April, outshining Nintendo’s Wii and Sony's PS3.
The free Xbox 360 offer is valid through 3rd of September, or until supplies last.
