Viagra to Treat MS Patients, Says Study

ViagraA recent study has claimed that administration of Viagra can prove to be beneficial for treating multiple sclerosis patients. The team of researchers from the University of Barcelona in Spain probed the after-effects of Viagra, in an animal model of multiple sclerosis known as experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis, for a period of eight days, along with regular medication of sildenafil.

To the surprise of many, almost 50% were reported to have recovered completely and moreover, the team attribute this success to the fact that sildenafil acted as shield to cause inflammation into the white matter of the spinal cord, which ultimately resulted in reducing risk of any potential health concern in brain.

Even earlier studies have asserted that Viagra, in combination with other drugs, can provide protection for nervous system of body and further, assists in combating the percolating concern of stroke and Alzheimer’s disease.

Moreover, medical fraternity has been grappling to address the persistent issue of MS for a long time, despite the fact that extent of the damage can be reduced significantly with the help of physical therapy and other treatments such as acupuncture, massage, and yoga.

Meanwhile, the authors have assured that human trials would be done soon to treat the sexual dysfunction in some multiple sclerosis patients.
