According to the news, it was revealed that world’s largest floating project soon be constructed by Shell in the shipyard in South Korea. This project will be constructed in the middle of the ocean and the function of this plant is to convert gas into liquid.
This plant will be constructed on the Prelude platform, which would be greater than four football fields and will weigh up to six times the largest aircraft carrier.
Shell, which is one of the biggest companies of Europe, is trying to increase the gas production and oil production.
Shell's Executive Director for upstream, Malcolm Brinded, says: "Our innovative technology will allow us to develop offshore gas fields that otherwise would be too costly to develop. Our decision to go ahead with this project is a true breakthrough for the LNG industry, giving it a significant boost to help meet the world's growing demand for the cleanest-burning fossil fuel".
After the completion of this project, Shell is further looking to start their new projects near the following provinces of East Timor, Indonesia, the South China Sea, Cypress, East Africa and Latin America. In addition, Shell will be spending for about $30 billion on this projects in the coming few years.
