Cervical cancer is the newest form of cancer that is affecting the women’s severely today and thus it necessitates us to find the medical treatment for same at the earliest possible.
Cervical cancer basically forms in tissues of the cervix, the organ which connects the uterus and vagina. Some of the common types of cervical cancer are Squamous cell carcinoma, which are formed in the squamous cells that cover the surface of the exocervix, Adenocarcinoma is a cancer type that develops from the mucus-producing gland cells of the endocervix and Adenosquamous carcinomas that have features of both squamous cell carcinomas and adenocarcinomas.
The main causes that have been detected by the researchers of the illness are the 8 types of human papillomavirus or HPV, which is a common virus that transmits during sexual intercourse, finger to genital contact and finger to anal contact.
Though the cancer can affect every woman but the more prone ones are those who had sexual activity at an early age (i. e. near the first menstruation), those who don’t avail of regular screening, those who has more than 1 partner and also those whose partner has many sexual partners.
“Cervical cancer can’t be detected among virgins”, says Dr. Benjamin Cuenca, an OB-Gynecologist.
“As early as 10 years old or before a girl has had her first intercourse and first encounter with the virus, I advise HPV vaccination, so that her body can already make antibodies in the event her body meets the HPV virus. Protection lasts for 20-50 years based on some studies”, says Dr. Cuenca.
