Apple App Store on Tuesday added one more feature in the Cupertino, Calif.-based electronic giant’s hat when it jumped past 500,000 apps for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
That is according to three app-related companies, viz. Chomp, 148apps and Chillingo, which published an infographic of some of the striking trends on the way to that impressive number.
But, some reports counter the claim, saying the actual number of apps currently available for download is 20 per cent lower, at around 400,000 apps.
However, other reports claim that the figure announced by the three app-related companies is genuine, and that Apple is just waiting to announce the figure at its upcoming Worldwide Developer Conference that will take place in early June.
The infographic published by Chomp, 148apps and Chillingo, also claims that there are more than 85,000 unique Apple mobile developers, 37 per cent of Apple mobile apps are free and Angry Birds is the most popular app of all times.
Apple App Store’s closest contender, the Google Android Marketplace, currently has only 294,000 apps.
