For serving more than 2500 children in the area along with those residing in the rural Tasman area as well, for the first time an Oral Health Community Clinic in Nelson Marlborough is getting opened. By the name of Richmond, this new clinic will be blessed in a dawn ceremony and Associate Minister of Health Peter Dunne will be inaugurating it on May 31.
By opening this mobile oral health clinic, all the School Dental Clinics in the area will be replaced.
The suitable timings for attending the inauguration ceremony of this new Richmond clinic on Tuesday itself are from 2pm to 5pm, on Henley School site William St, Richmond. The clinic will start operating from late June.
With this clinic, the intention is to modify the way oral health services were initially delivered in 2006. Modern facilities and equipments can now be accessed via this modern Oral Health Service. Let it be services, treatment, education or prevention; a modified way for achieving an improved health system for children is the main aim.
In this regard, Primary and Community Clinical Director, Peter Burton said, "This is another exciting step on the journey to having a greater community focus for Oral Health and give greater collegial support for oral health professionals".
