Pioneer Electronics Inc. has introduced a new iOS-connected in-dash device, called AppRadio, which allows people to use iPhone and iPod Touch apps in their cars.
AppRadio features 800 by 400 pixels, 6.1-inch multi-touch capacitive screen that that is designed specially for safer in-vehicle operation. The device allows easy navigation and interaction with the media on the iOS device as well as apps.
The innovative device comes with AM/FM radio, built-in Bluetooth for hands-free calling and a video input which can be used with an optional rear view camera.
The free Pioneer AppRadio app allows users to access the data and connectivity of the fourth generation iPhone, which enables users to to reap the benefits of Google Maps, Rdio and Pandora Radio and stay abreast with the latest recommended compatible third-party apps.
Announcing the new product, Ted Cardenas from car electronics division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. said, “AppRadio fully embraces the iPhone, which has become the window to our mobile connectivity and provides a comprehensive and safer way to use apps in the car.”
AppRadio is xpected to hit store shelves in late June with a suggested retail price tag of below $500.
