According to a latest conducted study in New Zealand, children who do not take sufficient sleep at night are more prone of gaining weight and this is the reason why they are more likely of being obese.
For conducting this study, 244 children between the age of three and seven were called upon. Their sleeping pattern along with their eating habits, height, body fat and weight were then analyzed and compared after every six months time. This procedure was followed for three years and six different statistics were recorded at their age of three, four and five.
As a result, it has been revealed that more sleep, in some or other ways, is linked with lower weight. Children who get less sleep during their early years of childhood are at a greater risk of having a higher Body Mass Index at the age of seven. According to UK experts, there is no harm in highlighting this connectivity between reduced sleep and ill health and therefore, with their full efforts as they have established this fact.
However, upon considering other risk factors like physical activity and gender into the research, the link between the two continued the same way.
