After the legalization of marijuana in Arizona, Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona is filing a federal lawsuit. The lawsuit will seek the declaratory judgment of the legality of medical marijuana. Brewer is determined to find out whether those who take part in the legalization of the substance are at risk of federal prosecution.
The authorization of Arizonians to be allowed up to two-and-a-half ounces or 12 cannabis plants was supported by 50.13% of the population.
Because of Brewer’s legal action, dispensaries to sell drugs are being put on hold until the case has been settled. However, current medical marijuana patients who have received confirmed status to use the drug are allow to grow their own certified plants or obtain the legal amount of marijuana.
In efforts to protect the state and the people, Brewer will continue to fight against the state’s approval to legalize marijuana.
