New Website to Encourage Smokers to Quit

SmokefreeWorld Smokefree Day is fast approaching so in efforts to promote a smoke free society, Quitline has just launched a website that provides smokers with the necessary tools to successfully quit smoking.

Tuesday May 31, 2011, World Smokefree Day, will be a day dedicated to promote awareness for quitting smoking. This is an international event that was created by the World Health Organization in 1988. This year’s theme “Me mutu- Kia Kasha/you can do it” will encourage smokers to quit with help from other smokers and non-smokers.

Quitline Chief Executive, Paula Snowden, believes that the website will attempt to offer as much choice as possible for smokers seeking help and said, “Smokers wanted to give up can get online advice with the QuitCoach tool on our website. They can also order patches, gum or lozenges at a subsidized price”.

With the launch of this website and the upcoming World Smokefree day, health advocates are hoping that effects of smoking will be highlighted and cause people to think twice about their smoking habits.
