Apple files & dismisses suit against seller of white iPhone 4 conversion kits

Apple files & dismisses suit against seller of white iPhone 4 conversion kitsFei Lam, teenager from New York who pocketed thousands of dollars by selling unauthorized white iPhone 4 conversion kits, got slapped with a trademark infringement lawsuit by Apple earlier this week.

Filed in the U. S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the suit accused Lam of infringing on Apple's trademarks. The Cupertino, California-based gadget maker added that Lam was well aware of the fact that he was never authorized by the company to sell the white iPhone parts.

Apple demanded damages and asked the court to issue an injunction to stop Lam from selling any white iPhone conversion kits.

However, the lawsuit against Lam was dismissed without prejudice before long. It is still unclear what settlement Apple hit with Lam.

In an interview, Lam said that contrary to media reports he did not pocket $130,000 from selling the white iPhone 4 conversion kits. He added that he learned about the Apple's lawsuit against him through media reports.

Speaking on the topic, the teenager said, “Don't know if I should talk about it but I found out about the suit from the news.”

Lam was securing a supply of white iPhone parts from Chinese manufacturer of Apple products- Foxconn.
