Asus unveils ultra-thin UX and Eee PC X101 laptops

Asus unveils ultra-thin UX and Eee PC X101 laptops Electronics giant Asus used ongoing Computex trade show in Taiwan to show its ultra-portable 11-inch Asus UX laptop and Eee PC X101 netbook.

The 11-inch Asus UX, which has an aluminum alloy case, is clearly designed to challenge Apple’s MacBook Air. Like Apple’s MacBook Air, the device makes use of SSD hard drives and has an instant-on resume feature.

The Asus UX is 17mm at its thickest point, and reportedly comes equipped with is its Intel Core i5 and i7 processors.

Asus also unveiled an updated version of the Eee PC netbook, called the Eee PC X101. The Eee PC X101 features a 10.1-inch display, two USB ports, and a MicroSD slot.

The updated netbook runs either Windows 7 or Intel's proprietary MeeGo operating system. It is powered by Intel Atom N455, 1.6GHz processor, and offers 1GB of memory.

The Eee PC X101 is rumored to available with an attractive price tag of around $200.
