Florida Workers Being Exposed to Asbestos for 35 YearsIt has come to light that Florida is being exposed to asbestos from last 35 years. Asbestos insulation is commonly used in power generating facilities across the nation. There are some chemical companies who are in the practice of using asbestos and therefore it is believed that workers working at chemical plant at Florida may have been exposed to asbestos.

Asbestos is a highly toxic mineral fiber that was used in insulation and other construction materials in the 20th century. However, in 1989 the use of Asbestos was banned by US as it caused people fatal illnesses like asbestosis and lung cancer. But in Florida, the use of asbestos was not banned and as a result, some have been unknowingly exposed to asbestos while working. Those who were exposed to asbestos are now suffering from life-threatening diseases as asbestosis, lung cancer or mesothelioma.

Workers in Florida are potentially and unnecessarily being exposed to asbestos and their health is being put at risk. A report has revealed that workers working at Atlantic Drydock, Mayport Naval Station, and Pensacola Naval Air Station are at high risk. It has been told that the sea-going vessels are primary source of asbestos exposure as they are constructed by using asbestos in huge quantity.
