The Mental Health Foundation has now moved on to take a stand for the recognition of mental health issues faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people (LGBT). Considering the need for the recognition of mental health of LGBT, the foundation has released the video which is produced for the Like Minds.
Outline NZ General Manager, Vaughan Manese in the video has stated that their company is up for the counseling for those life issues that people face around isolation, around depression, around coming out and around relationships. Vaughan Manese in the video released recently has repeatedly said that being gay is not less than suffering from any kind of mental illness. He linked mental illness with being gay by saying that both of them are often invisible, there are no affirmed symptoms for both and can be lately identified.
A recent review of suicide and suicide risk in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender populations published in the Journal of Homosexuality has paved the way for various organizations like Mental Health Foundation to work in the direction to prevent the various serious problems like mental health and suicide prevention.
The Mental Health Foundation has stated the single best thing that they can do in terms of having got engaged with family and friends, who are lesbian, gay, transgender or with mental health issues by working towards their prevention from the activities like gay suicides.
