The process of drilling has been brought to an abrupt halt in England, after it was revealed by the scientists that there is a threat of damage to the tectonic movements of the ground. Two petty earthquakes have been seen in the vicinity and the researchers are of the view that it might be a result of ‘Frackling’ due to the mining and drilling activities performed there.
This new revelation has raised concerns in the minds of the researchers as well as environmentalists. They are going to look deep into the matter to find out the truth. The opposition has a different view that, they are of the criticism that all these are mere dirty and disrupting excuses.
There have been earthquakes of magnitudes 1.5 and 2.3 recorded in the recent past in the vicinity.
The survey further revealed that both these earthquakes have followed a similar pattern and are in a similar location. The mining activities might have a very serious threat to the ecological balance of the area, and care and precautions need to be taken for the safety of one and all.
“We have discussed with Cuadrilla and agreed that a pause in operations is appropriate so that a better understanding can be gained for the cause of the seismic events”, said the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
