Over 1300 women participated in Bromsgrove’s annual Race for Life event

RaceThe annual Race for Life event at Bromsgrove on Sunday, May 29, witnessed the participation of over 1,300 women for the noble cause of raising funds for Cancer Research UK!

For the event, held at Sanders Park, the participants undertook the increasingly popular 5k race, to help raise an expected amount of £100,000 in total for the charity which conducts research into all forms of cancer to look for potential treatments.

Revealing that the Race for Life participants had “a wonderful day,” and that “the atmosphere was fantastic … and emotional at times,” Katie Avery – the organizer of the Bromsgrove event – said that it was great that so many women came together in a spirit of solidarity to help those fighting cancer.

Most of the women who have won their battles against cancer said that they participated in the event to ‘give something back’ as well as to help find further treatments.

Avery added that though some participants walked, while some others jogged or ran, all of them united wonderfully well for a common reason --- the determination to fight a deadly disease that still affects one in every three people.

Noting that, for a charity like Cancer Research UK, each and every penny counts, Avery urged those women who could not participate at the Bromsgrove Race for Life event to sign up for other similar events that are coming up between now and next month!
