Japan’s largest liquid-crystal display makers, Sharp Corp, were expected to raise an operating profit by 23%, as a result of demand of their LCDs and solar panel in the market. The operating profit was expected to amount to around 97 billion yen in comparison to the previous year’s profit that amounted to 78.9 billion.
The expected gain from the selling of LCDs was 87%, amounting to 32 billion yen; profits from solar panel may increase by 4 times up to 8 billion yen. The revenue would rise by 0.9% that is 3.05 trillion yen, which reached the mark of 3.02 trillion yen previous year.
With the increasing demand, Sharp was planning to establish a new unit at Kameyama in central Japan, so as to manufacture small and medium-sized displays. The company aimed a rise of 1,700 megawatts, along with television deliveries increase by 15 million sets.
As per a report from business daily Nikkei, Sharp was also planning to indulge into partnership terms with Taiwan’s Hon Hai Precision Industry Co, but Katayama President of Sharp, declined to pass any statement in relation to the plans, but he said that there were positive signs, such as the growing demand for Smartphone’s, increasing interest in energy-saving devices such as LED lights and an increase in demand for solar panels", and the company was concentrating on such aspects.
