Protection Against Alzheimer's Offered by Mobile Phone Radiations, Scientists Cl

Post all the controversy and concerns over the use of mobile phones causing brain cancer and their radiation being too harmful, a new study has suggested that these radiations might actually shield users against Alzheimer's disease.

The research by scientists was conducted on mice, but it strongly hints that the discovery could be true in humans as well.

Scientists from Florida discovered that radiation from mobile handsets could actually protect the the memories of mice which were initially programmed to contract Alzheimer's, and currently, more frequencies are being tested in order to see if better results can be obtained.

For the sake of study, 96 mice that had been genetically altered for them to develop beta-amyloid plaques, a marker of Alzheimer's, in their brains as they aged, were observed against other mice, after they were all exposed to radiations generated by normal phones. Conclusions were then drawn based on the data collected.

Details of the study, conducted by the Florida Alzheimer’s Disease Research Centre, have been published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease.
