ColiHead of France's National Reference Centre for Escherichia coli (E. coli), Francois-Xavier Weill, has claimed that the cases of deadly kidney disease reported in the past few months in Germany and 11 other nations due to the spread of E. coli was the worst ever outbreak of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS).

According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, since the outburst of E. coli in northern Germany and few other countries, more than 500 cases of the deadly kidney disease have been reported. Out of these
500 infected people, eleven people from Germany and one from Sweden died on Friday.
