Samsung Launches its 3D TV Home System

In a race to achieve robust sales, television manufacturers are banking on 3D TVs for their next sales boost, with sets capable of adding that extra visual dimension. These are expected to hit U. S market by the middle of 2010.

Amidst the positive hopes of top TV makers including Sony, Panasonic, LG and Samsung, regarding the new technology, investor’s claim that it is still bit early to invest on 3D. Mitsushige Akino, chief fund manager at Japan's Ichiyoshi Investment Management added, "TV makers want more for 3D than they can get, and neither Samsung, Sony, Panasonic nor LG have gained the technological advantage. Until that outcome becomes clear, I'm not investing".

The 3D home entertainment system includes high-definition 3D TVs, the BD-C6900 Blu-ray Disc player and an audio system to be sold together or separately.

Paul Gagnon, director of North American TV research at DisplaySearch, estimates around 1 million 3D television sets to ship worldwide in 2010, a sliver of a total TV market that is expected to top 200 million units.

Recently, Samsung Electronics launched its strong line-up at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) on Wednesday, including a complete 3D home entertainment system and LED TVs with screens as thin as a pencil.

With a positive response from Samsung's LED TVs last year, which was claimed a surprise hit for the company registering a 2.5 million net sale, it expects a 10 million this year for the new product.
