HIV/AIDS, heinous disease which often leads to death of the victim, is curable. For the last 30 years, its cure was unknown to the researchers. It has come to light that the cure was previously available but since AIDS/HIV is considered as taboo and stigma, many patients don't go for the treatment.
There have been two cases in which the HIV/AIDS patients have successfully survived. In one of the case, a patient with AIDS was treated with unique stem-cell transplant. It has been told that the patient was also suffering from acute myeloid leukemia. After twenty months of treatment, the virus didn't re-appear in Brown's body. Prior of going through stem-cell transplant, Brown was taking antiretroviral drugs. Moreover, the doctors who examined Brown said that the bone narrow which he received as treatment for leukemia made his immunity system resistant to HIV.
Although Brown's treatment can't be applied to millions of people infected with AIDS/HIV, its results offer proof that there are ways to make immunity system stronger to prevent and even fight off established infection without taking a pills on daily basis. However, there is also need to change the perception of society about HIV/AIDS and AIDS patients should be encouraged to come forward and seek proper treat5ment.
