In a recent check made by the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration on Friday, several tainted products have been found containing excessive amount of carcinogen di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate. A few to name such products include Lemon Juice Power A by Kakawa Enterprise Co Ltd; Black Tea by Good Young Co Ltd; and Fruity Jelly Bear (9.08kg), Fruity Jelly/Assorted (210g, 525g and 1,260g), Bear Fruity Jelly Pink (580g), Bear Fruity Jelly Brown (580g) and Fruity Jelly N. In this regard, the Taiwan government via an advisory note had ordered to put off all such products from the shelves of the stores. Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said "The ministry will also conduct checks and seize the products should they be found to be still on sale".
According to him, all the importers of these products have been directed by the ministry to recall their respective products from the local market.
Malaysians have been assured about their security and safety; as Liow said that several stringent checks and controls on food products have been laid in country.
Those who have already bought some of these products are advised by the F&A and Taiwan Health ministry to destroy them.
