New Nook Touch eBook reader has hidden Web browser

New Nook Touch eBook reader has hidden Web browserThe new Barnes & Noble NOOK Touch eBook reader, called the Simple Touch Reader, has a built-in Web browser, which was missing when Barnes & Noble had launched its Nook e-reader a couple of weeks back.

The users of the new Nook can press the virtual "Search" button at the bottom of device's screen and type in a URL in the search bar when it comes up, and it will load a search page.

Both the Kindle as well as first-edition Nook e-book readers have web browsers, though they are not up to the mark, yet they work satisfactorily with certain sites.

Optimistically, Barnes & Noble will make the feature more functional as the touch-screen navigation actually enhances the Web-browsing experience considerably on e-ink e-readers.

Meanwhile, reports are emerging that YouTuber and Android hacker JFreke has rooted new Barnes & Noble NOOK Touch eBook reader and installed popular game Angry Birds. However, it is almost impossible to play due to the slow-updating e-ink screen.
