Amid rising concern over collapse of Viagra's patent on June 18, demand for other generic erectile dysfunction drugs is expected to take a jump. With the news hitting the corners of medical fraternity, many companies in Finland and Italy shifted to other drugs to meet rising patient’s demand.
Even the manufacturer of Viagra, Drug Company Pfizer, started selling similar version of Avigra, at a price of $8 and the recent trend is expected to be followed by other countries in the coming years.
If some reports are to be believed, most of the men have started resorting to other generic drugs owing to high cost and side effects attached with Viagra.
Referring to reports which claims that patients are not satisfied with the cost of the prescription-only drugs, Danny Wolf, Director of Auckland's High Street Clinic which treats about 7500 patients for erectile dysfunction, claimed that generic version of the drug is likely to make more sale at affordable cost in the coming years, though the drugs would only be sold if they are medically recommended.
Though Mr. Wolf is not expecting any sudden spurt in patients demanding cheaper versions of Viagra, old patients might opt for such drugs immediately.
