How Parents Can Help Ease Bullying

How Parents Can Help Ease BullyingBullies are everywhere; in the school, on the playground, even at home. They have always posed a threat to their latest victims, but bullying is also considered to be a normal phase that most children experience.

Parents are being urged to be aware of bulling because it could lead to long-term effects that may impact a child’s future significantly.

When a child enters High School, bullying shifts from intense to mild. However, teenagers being bullied are a major concern for many reasons.

Dealing with bullies starts at home. It is up to the parents to teach their children the proper ways to handle bullies. Parents are reminded to talk to their children about their own strengths and talents so it will maintain their children’s self esteem-which is usually the first thing that bullies try to destroy. Parents that teach their children to pull away from bulling are also teaching them not to be bullies in effect.

Mrs. Luzviminda Lejos, M. A., a guidance counselor in a private high school explains the importance parents are when it comes to bullying. “Parents should stop the bully and explain to the kids that it is wrong. They should also explain to their child to ignore the bully instead of fighting back”. By doing so, parents will be considered allies their children can turn to for help.
