A recent nationwide survey has found that most of the New Zealanders do not sleep well and are restless sleepers.
The findings of the survey were based on the evaluation of more than 11,000 people, aged between 25 and 54. The survey mostly involved women aged between 25 and 54 and was conducted by the bedmaker, Sleepyhead.
The results of the survey revealed that about 93% of New Zealanders wake up at least once every night. Almost half of them wakes up to use the bathroom, while others wake up due to tossing and turning, aches and pain and disturbance caused by partners. The survey has also found that found South Islanders snore more than North Islanders.
About 52% of the participants involved in the study said that they have received recommendation from doctors to sleep for seven to eight hours sleep a night.
The General Manager of Sleepyhead, Chris Taylor said that regional variations in sleeping habits were reported during the survey and Wellingtonians were found to be "the best sleepers".
The survey has also found that single people in the country took longer time to sleep as compared to those with partners.
