For only reason that fewer women are going for cervical cancer tests for having busy schedule, the free cervical cancer screening at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) after having marked the performance of Cervical Cancer Awareness last month, has for now extended it to June 15.
The research that was conducted by University College, London says many younger women feel they can’t get time off work to go for tests. Also at the same time, the research in its report said that some women even say that they cannot get the appointment at the right time in their menstruation cycle due to which they are not able to go for test.
The cervical cancer which is said to be more common in women who are in their 20s and 30s and so the women who are in their 50s have the opinion that they are out of danger. As a part of research the researchers interviewed
12 doctors and 50 women who had never been for a smear.
It is learned that the cervical cancer has become so fatal that it kills 12 women each day in the country, following which free cervical cancer screening has now been extended to June 15 so that more women can now be called upon for the test.
