In an interview with The Business Times Dr. Susan Lim, first media interview after allegations of 'mark-ups' began said: “It's like I'm in some prolonged Halloween party and I've been masqueraded in a cloak of scandal”.
Earlier this year, the scandal grabbed the attention of Singapore Medical Council (SMC) that Dr. Lim had disgustingly marked up her bills to her wealthy Bruneian patients.
Additionally, a report by forensic accounting expert, Owain Stone, revealed that her actual charges have touched around $6,484, an hour. The exposed figure was considerably less as compared to the rate of $12,800, according to 2006 revenue earned by her company.
Last year, a forensic accounting expert in a report has claimed that $12 million bill for treating her Brunei patient over a six-month period was reasonable enough. The accountant also pin pointed Dr. Lim's fees against that earned by a top British surgeon who also treats same patients.
The report dated January 20, 2010 suggests that Dr Lim's actual charged around $6,484, an hour, low figure as compared to the rate of $12,800. The findings were submitted by Mr Owain Stone of KordaMenthaNeo to the Singapore Medical Council hearing against Dr. Lim.
