Britain Bike Week contributes to green transport revolutionTeam Green Britain Bike Week aims to provide a much-needed boost to bicycle riding to contribute to a green transport revolution in Britain.

This week is “Britain’s Biggest Bike Fix,” which encourages people to fix their unused bikes and get them on roads. Compiled figures suggest that 77 per cent people in Britain own at least one bike, but merely 14 per cent of then use their bikes regularly.

New cycle routes have been opened across Leeds City and excellent facilities such as the Cycle Point have been created to allow people to rediscover the benefits of riding bicycles.

Speaking on the Bike Week, which started on Saturday June 18, the Leeds City Councillor Keith Wakefield said, “I would encourage people of all ages to try the bike again for some healthy exercise and for getting around, as well as for the sheer fun of it.”

According to EDF Energy, a number of events being held offering bicycle repairs free of charge.

A survey carried out by EDF Energy found 80 per cent of respondents saying that riding bicycle is good exercise, while 52 per cent saw cycling as a inexpensive method of transportation.
