Overweight Dog Has Been Prescribed a Diet Plan in AustraliaA black Labrador, pet of a Melbourne based family has been advised to go on a diet. Samson, whose weight is 85kg, which is 42 kg more than the average weight was taken to the veterinarians by his owners.

He is termed as the Australia’s fattest pooch as he is almost double his standard weight and doesn’t fit in his kennel. The Vets of Animal Aid shelter has suggested for dropping down of his weight as he cannot exercise due to overweight.

The dog was being fed on the lavish fast foods like pies, pizza, burgers and much more for many years.

Nell Thomson from Animal Aid shelter stated, "It's a combination of inappropriate food. So human type foods, plus lack of exercise... and it really doesn't take long to stack on those pounds”. He said that the staff of the organization was shocked to see such a dog.

Veterinarian, Amber Lavery said that the dog has been prescribed two meals a day that involves the nutritious diet barring the calories. She said that the dog has a very good appetite and his favourite part is sleeping. To help him loose weight, the owners have to say no to him. “Tough love means saying no”, said she.

She hopes that the dog will be at his ideal weight by Christmas, if he follows the proper diet plan.
