The State government of Gold Cost has announced a slew of measures for the promoting tourism in the province. It has drawn plans for promoting Gold Coast tourism by investing an extra $500,000 on domestic and international marketing for promoting tourism in Queensland.
Announcing the plans, Tourism Minister and the Member for Southport, Mr. Peter Lawlor said that the funds have been announced in line with government’s Tourism Action Plan devised to promote tourism in the state.
Mr. Lawlor added that government will spend over $7 million worth of major tourism marketing initiatives in next couple of months, apparently, to woo Chinese and Kiwi tourists to Queensland. The package included $3.6 million for attracting local Australians to spend their holidays in Queensland.
The minister informed, ``This will add to the $2.8m that has already been invested in domestic and international marketing initiatives over the last six months, bringing the total marketing push to $10m in new money over the course of just one year.”
Government’s Tourism Action Plan, the minister added, would especially focus on Tropical North Queensland, the Whitsundays, the Fraser Coast, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Brisbane.
