Firefighters Stress on Importance of Smoke Alarms at Homes

FirefightersFirefighters opened a house all burnt for the display so that people understand how disastrous it is when a fire broke out in the house and to what extent did it damaged the house. The firefighters also wanted the people to understand the importance of installing smoke alarms at homes.

According to Senior Station Officer Patrick Hogan, fire broke out at a house in Huxley road, the house consisted of 4 smoke alarms three were taken out in order to change the batteries of the alarm and one was left working in the bedroom. When the fire broke in the house from the metal bucket filled with hot ashes, a man was sleeping in his bedroom. The man’s life got saved due to the alarm in the bedroom or else he would have died due to the poisonous gases released when a fire broke in a house.

Mr. Hogan notified that the smoke and heat could kill a person, if the person inhaled the poisonous gases. The people from the fire department were appointed around the house so that they may help the people who came to visit the burnt house with other important information. Even after the three weeks of fire being extinguished the smell of smoke and burnt could be felt.
