Tallaght Hospital Assures To Co-Operate With IAEM InvestigationThe health and safety supervisory body, Irish Association for Emergency Medicine, is about to perform an investigation into the safety and quality of services offered at the emergency department of Dublin's Tallaght Hospital.

The watchdog has raised concerns towards quality of services provided to patients and refused to make any public statement until the investigation is not complete.

Yesterday, the Spokesman of the IAEM, Dr. John McInerney, has greeted the request to investigate the quality of safety and services offered to patients demanding acute admission and receiving care in the emergency department of Tallaght hospital. During a board meeting on Friday, the authority decided to instigate the investigation into services at Tallaght.

Earlier, the authority investigated the services at Mallow and Ennis hospitals along with two prolonged investigations into the misdiagnosis of two cancer patients, Rebecca O’Malley and another female patient, just known as Patient A. Meanwhile, a statement from the hospital has claimed to fully co-operate with the investigation.

“It is important to note that the tragedy at Tallaght was not due to any failure of ED assessment but related to deficiencies in the ongoing care of a patient identified as needing hospital admission,” the IAEM stated”, said the IAEM.
