Sony Vaio Z Series: at a glance

 at a glanceSony recently took wraps off its latest and greatest laptops, VAIO Z Series, in London.

The ultra-mobile VAIO Z laptops, which will try to snatch mobile office workers from Apple’s popular MacBook Air, comes with innovative data transfer technology based on Intel's Light Peak. Sony’s VAIO Z is the second major laptop series to make use of Intel's Light Peak as Apple was the first electronics giant to adopt Light Peak technology with its new MacBook Pro laptops that it rolled out in February.

The VAIO Z is 13.3-inch in screen size and merely 16.65mm in thickness. It is easy to handle as it weighs less than 1.2kg. The technical specs include an Intel Core i7 processor clocked at 2.7GHz; 8GB of memory, hard drive storage of up to 256GB, a USB 2.0 port, a USB 3.0 port, Wi-Fi, optional 3G, Bluetooth 2.1, and HDMI.

Its optional sheet battery, which has already been seen in Sony Vaio S Series, promises up to 14 hours of battery life and a quick charge feature.

However, the new series doesn’t come cheap. The Vaio Z series will be available with price starting at £1,434. The top model will reportedly come with a whopping price tag of around £4,000.
