The Center for Disease Control has compiled a report on the issue which suggests that smoking is responsible for $100 billion in yearly health care costs.

According to World Health Organization, Tobacco is the only legal consumer product that credits to kill half of its consumers. The figures suggest that particularly in Philippines, tobacco tends to execute a person in every 10 minutes. Further, tobacco is a leading cause of roughly seven out of ten deaths. Besides active smokers, second hand smokers are also developing a tendency to have an encounter with a wide array of health disorders.

As an attempt to limit its negative effects, the Australian Government has proposed to introduce plain cigarette packaging and ban logos appearing on cigarette packages. On the other hand, the tobacco companies have responded furiously towards the forecasted legislation where some of them have outlined policies to take a legal action against the Australian government.

Meanwhile, an NGO has shared a study to depict the adverse scenario created through smoking however; the report had notified that in Brazil, around 54% smokers have changed their opinion on health loss of smoking because of warnings.
