According to reports, Kathleen Smith, who was diagnosed with invasive lobular breast 3- years ago, is giving the video of her experience to Kiwi Stories of Breast Cancer, with the intention of helping cancer survivors.
Mrs. Smith and her husband are part of New Zealand's first online videos and she decided to have a mammogram after viewing an advert on the television, as she said: "I wanted to be involved in these videos because if I can help even one person by spurring them on to get a mammogram, then that's a good thing".
Also, Mrs. Smith is a mother of 3, and has experienced a lumpectomy, a mastectomy, 3 months of chemotherapy, five weeks of radiation treatment and reconstructive surgery, she is said to be recovering.
However, WCA Hospital officials have announced that, they were awarding $50,004 grant from the Western New York Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure of cancer, and it will be used to fund breast health education, breast navigation and breast screening program.
Moreover, breast cancer is the second leading cause of death related to cancer in women, though it's below lung cancer. T. Wright, WCA Hospital President and CEO, stated that: "This generous grant offers us the opportunity to decrease incidences of breast cancer and reduce the overall cancer mortality".
