Inactive behavior and lying down for hours may double the risk of perilous blood clots in the lungs of women, confirmed a study.
According to the study, “Women who spend most of their time sitting down when they get home from work may be more likely to get a potentially fatal blood clot on the lungs than those who are more active”.
The researchers were working on the risk of pulmonary embolism and found the occurring of blood clots in the lungs through vein constriction in the legs. The problem was notified in around 69,950 female nurses over a period of 18 years.
Though in the previous researches a lot of reasons have been concluded which cause such a problem like the aging factor, obesity, smoking, hypertension and inactivity during long hours of travelling. But this new research confirms that the inactive lifestyle is the main reason behind this problem.
Around 268 cases of pulmonary embolism were examined. It was notified that the risk of blood clots in the lungs of those women was almost double who spent 41 inactive had hours during a week when compared with those who had spent 10 hours inactively during a week.
