Online payment service PayPal UK became the latest victim of ongoing hacking spree as anonymous hacker/s breached its Twitter account late Tuesday.
Hacker/s started posting messages and retweeting other’s messages. One of the retweeted messages apparently from an angry customer claimed PayPal that froze all of his/her money withut any reason.
The hacker/s used offensive language to criticize PayPal for its poor security, and directed people to website PayPal Sucks, which aims to expose the dangers of doing business through PayPal.
PayPal confirmed the hack, but it assured that no customer data was compromised. The company apologized for the hack, and said it had regained control of the hacked account.
Commenting on the hack, PayPal stated, “This account was hacked earlier. We have it in our control now. Your personal data is still 100 [per cent] safe, hack occurred on Twitter not PayPal.”
Earlier on Monday, unknown hackers hacked the Twitter account of Fox News, and reported falsely that U. S. President Barack Obama had been shot dead in an Iowa restaurant while campaigning.
