ThinkGrid launches Microsoft Windows 7-based hosted virtual desktopsThinkGrid, an expert in enabling real IT services from the cloud, has launched Microsoft Windows 7-based hosted virtual desktops.

According to ThinkGrid’s claims that Microsoft Windows 7-based hosted virtual desktops provide a cost-effective alternative to investigating in new hardware. The company also said that the new alternative would provide the full Windows 7 experience along with greater flexibility around hardware.

A number of enterprises faced considerable Capex and migration costs during in-house switchovers to Microsoft Windows 7.

Announcing the Windows 7-based hosted virtual desktops, ThinkGrid’s chief executive Rob Lovell said, “The Hosted Virtual Desktop route offers businesses an Opex path to Windows 7, and as with the original XP solution, a fully personalised Windows experience.”

Lovell said the new product provides the users with the ability to install any app controlled by a firm’s own administrator, as each user has his/her own continual virtual machine.

The service promises instantaneous resource management and group management as it will allow enterprises to get rid of the need to perform manual upgrades across all machines, thus saving time as well as resources.
