People with Mental Health Illnesses Must Be RecognizedFour members of the community have been recognized for their outstanding work they have done for mental health issues. Two of them were honored for the work they did advocating mental illnesses when so many were not. The other two were honored for their effective methods when it comes to dealing with students and mental illnesses.

Turner, one of the members recognized, worked for three decades in order to promote awareness about mental illness and helped establish an organization that will support family members with a mental illness.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization conducted a report about people with mental illness titled ‘Mental Health and Development: Targeting People with Mental Health Conditions as a Vulnerable Group’.

Many people who suffer from a mental health issue such as dementia consider themselves to be “excluded from mainstream social and economic activities, as well as from decision-making on issues”. The WHO is also preparing ‘Ten Basic Principles of Mental Health Care Law’ to provide mental health laws in 45 countries worldwide. Recommendations are also being considered, including treatment in primary care, increase availability of psychotropic medication, educating members of the public and involving communities, service users and families in delivery of care.
