Nurses to Vote against NAAS General Hospital

Nurses to Vote against NAAS General HospitalThe nurses of NAAS General Hospital will be voting for ‘industrial action’ which is related to the chronic overcrowding problem and unsafe conditions in the hospital.

Explaining the condition of the hospital, Industrial Relations Officer, Derek Reilly along with the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organization (INMO) notified that the patients have been treated on trolleys, which is awful.

The patients have not been offered essential facilities like oxygen rod and other important equipments. Also, the department remains deficient of the skilled staff.

“We have no choice but to take action to highlight our concerns with regard to patient safety and the terrible working conditions our members have to endure”, Derek said.

Derek stated, “Patients’ lives are on the front line”.

He stated that the nursing staff is quite disappointed with the hospital’s condition and they have talked to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regarding the chronic overcrowding problem.

The INMO said that they will be taking part in a ballot against the chronic overcrowding, as the hospital has been treating its patients on trolleys.

According to Reilly, earlier the trolleys were a part of emergency department, but now they have been found all over the hospital. He terms it as a betrayal to patients as they have been kept on a high risk.
