Facebook, the social networking giant that recently added Video Chat feature to its pages, is reportedly preparing to launch a new music service.
Jeff Rose, a software developer and researcher, claims that he has discovered an evidence of unannounced Facebook music service known as “Vibes”.
Rose wrote on his blog that following the launch of Facebook Video Chat, he took a closer look at the desktop application’s code and found that the application installer supported two applications, viz. “Peep” and “Vibes”.
The researcher said “Peep” was related to the video chat client, while “Vibes” could be a reference to Facebook’s potential online music service, which was still in the works.
Commenting on the new feature, Rose wrote, “The Vibes app connects with a music download dialog in the page though, so I’m guessing that with this release we are seeing the seeds for Facebook’s upcoming music offering.”
Facebook is the world’s most popular social networking site, with 750 million users around the world.
