US network provider Verizon got the iPhone 4 nearly eight months after it was released via AT&T, but Verizon currently commands around a third of iPhone 4 market in the country.
Figures released by research firm Localytics claims that 32.3 per cent of the iPhone 4 smartphones are running on the airwaves of Verizon in the US, as of July 1.
AT&T has been selling the iPhone 4 since June 2010, while the Verizon iPhone 4 was released in February 2011.
Commenting on the findings, Localytics said in a blog post, "Despite AT&Ts nearly eight-month head start, Verizon has managed to capture nearly a third of the U. S. iPhone 4 market.”
Verizon has been enjoying increase in its iPhone market share month after month. In February, commanded 20 per cent iPhone market share, which jumped to 32.3 per cent in July.
Initially, Verizon offered unlimited data plans to iPhone owners to attract more and more customers. But, it recently put an end to the unlimited data plans for new customers, apparently because it has already achieved a strong foothold in the market.
