According to latest international research Gonorrhoea, a common sexually transmitted disease, has become resistant to antibiotics. The result has become a feature of worry for the researchers and various health organizations all around the world.
Researchers analyzed that seria gonorrhoea; called H041, is now resistant to all cephalosporin-class antibiotics. The reason behind this resistance is identified as genetic mutations. Analysis of the bacterium found a new variant which is very effective at mutating.
Since 1940, antibiotics have become a standard treatment for gonorrhoea. The bacterium in the following years developed a remarkable resistance over all the drugs introduced to control it and has survived. Now the bacterium has become resistible to all the antibiotics and thus, incurable for the time being.
Swedish Reference Laboratory warned that the infections can become a global threat and new drugs are required to be introduced that could delay the spread of infection. Experts will present the findings and analysis at a conference in Canada, which is being organized by International Society for Sexually transmitted Diseases and Research.
First case of Gonorrhoea has been identified in a sex trade worker in Japan. Gonorrhoea is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases in the world and its widespread can cause serious health problems around the world.
