According to the source, it was revealed that Dunedin Hospital Chief, Vivian Blake has called for the major changes so that they can improve the services for the patients.
It has been reported that many hospitals are facing some problems due to which, the patients are suffering. The South Island hospital is having problems in the delivery of services to its patients whereas the Southern District Health Board has released a report for sweeping changes at the hospital premises.
The DHB has reported that the improvements are needed and they have to rise to funds.
The reports have reported that around 30% of patients spend more than six hours in the Emergency Department and others are waiting up to five days in a ward for a scan.
The report said: "The prospect of the perpetual spiral of cost-cutting or containment, waste and frustration at every turn, and the crumbling plant all around us can only eventually lead to a demoralized, cynical staff, which either leave or cease to care. Political fallout from continuing to deliver a poor service to our patients and falling short of targets being met by most other DHBs will be severe.”
The report also concludes that these hospitals have struggled for many years thus they have failed to invest the money on the buildings due to which patients have to suffer now.
