An article published in the American Medical Journal has created controversy and have raised question over parents’ capability of taking care of their children. The article is written by Dr. David Ludwig, who has suggested that obese kids should be put in the foster care.
Obesity is a growing concern in the countries like America and Canada. It has been reported that about two million children suffers from obesity. Doctors and health care sectors are facing problems in tackling the issue.
It is believed that putting kids in the hands of foster care is a better option than obesity surgery. Dr. Ludwig is of the opinion that if nothing is done, to combat obesity, than there is possibility that most of the kids will succumb to death at the age of 30 because of obesity.
The health experts are of the opinion that the moderate diet given at the foster care could prove helpful in losing weight. It has been reported that a 12 year old girl weighing 400lbs was put in the foster care with the hope that she will lose weight. After one year of her stay, at the foster care, the girl reduced about 130 pounds.
The article published in the American Medical Journal has caused unrest among parents as it is blaming parents for making their kids obese. The article has hurt the sentiments of many parents. Parents have sued the writers of the article for accusing them of making their kids fat.
