TB Blood Tests Unsafe, WHOThe World Health Organization has raised issues over the current method of detecting tuberculosis (TB). The WHO has warned that blood tests to detect TB can be misleading. About one third of the world population suffers from the infectious lung disease.

Mario Raviglione, the Director of WHO's Stop TB department said, "Are in fact dangerous to patients, since some cases will not be detected and some will be called TB when in fact they do not have it". It has been told that soon WHO will be issuing guidelines for the proper diagnose of the disease.

It has been revealed that TB blood test is popular in the developing countries. The Lancet medical journal has claimed that in developing countries some illegal blood testing kits are used which could add woes to the sufferers' disease. It has been reported by the journal that the illegal testing kits are ordered by doctors who in return receives commission.

Considering the prevalent practice of doctors in the developing countries, WHO has decided to reframe the guidelines for the TB tests. It has come to light that the WHO will be releasing its new guidelines in the end of this week.
